In this outrageous statement the Pope was reaffirming the earlier proclamation of Rabbi Ignaz Maybaum who said, “The Golgotha of modern man is Auschwitz.”

I understand why Bl. John Paul would have felt the horror of the concentration camps so strongly. Auschwitz was, after all, in his home country.
And there were Catholics, and even priests, who died there, too.
BTW–what seminary or beth din awarded John Paul II semicha? That's the only way he could get the title “rabbi”.

No horror can excuse the Pope supplanting Calvary with a human “Holocaust” even rhetorically. That you would attempt to excuse such is troubling.

The blessing is the Birkat Kohanim (priestly blessing). The rabbis are the “priests” blessing the Pope. I don't imagine for a second that they would bless anyone they thought was a true follower of Jesus Christ who they regard as a bastard and magician who led “Israel” astray and deserved to be executed.

No one bears more responsibility — more culpability — for the Judaization of the Church than Pope John Paul II. He was the first Vicar of Christ to set foot in a synagogue. I would have resoundingly applauded the Holy Father's doing so if his intention had been to preach that there is no salvation outside of the Church. But his synagogue-going had as its disgraceful purpose the cosseting of Jew loathing of Christ and His Church.
Adding insult to abysmal judgment, Pope Benedict XVI has gratuitously and foolishly followed in his predecessor's footsteps. One can only pray that Benedict's successor will bring to an end this appalling practice.
